Bent on taking over the earth, the deadly Thone have planted a monstrous device on our planet's surface. The book is good, well paced and exciting. Harry cannot turn down a request from the dead...even if it costs him his soul. The idea to have the skill to talk to the dead in a context of spies has amazing possibilities. it is the best series I have ever read. Lovecraft and a group of his amorphous contemporaries (the so-called "Lovecraft Circle"), The Cthulhu Mythos story cycle has taken on a convoluted, cyclopean life of its own. Not the end of life, Harry Keogh discovered - and not the end of his battle against the terrible evil of vampires. Brett J. Talley, The men sounded like scared little boys who would be afraid of their own shadows and the women sounded like super nagging harpies. Cancel anytime. Great reading and performance. The plots were interesting, the characters were well thought out and the places were amazing. I have most of the books in this series, and several other series he has written as well. $31.18, Sale price: Harry Keough is the greatest Necroscope in the world. Michael Troughton's performance was very well done. Escaping, Khai flees to neighboring Kush where he earns the rank of general in the army of Queen Ashtarta...and a place in Ashtarta's bed. Written with Lumley`s characteristic style and with the characters that we have grown to know so well it is the best vampire series ever written and I doubt anyone will ever write a better one. The vampires conspire. It's time has passed I guess. A fine finale to a good series. $14.95 The whole tone of voice, inflection etc really just doesn't fit. There are a couple of things that can happen when you decide to re-read a book, ranging from abject disappointment that it is not as good as you remember it, to the feeling that it was always worth a read but you get nothing new the second time, there was so much you missed in that forst instance or a warm feeling that you are meeting old friends again reminiscing over an adventure you shared many years ago. or 1 credit. James is one of my favorite narrators, and his performance was wonderful, as always. Older now I revisit them. ©2009 Brian Lumley (P)2015 Macmillan Audio, Release date: Harry Keogh: Necroscope, is on his perhaps, final mission. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. 2. It's layered, and a joy to listen to. I love H.P. You will get an email reminder before your trial ends. And Faethor's price will be very high indeed! Period! Shame they didn't use the same narrator as the other necroscope books. But my major complain is with the fact that to be a horror story it tells everything; there is no place for mystery or darkness. Which character – as performed by James Langton – was your favorite? I understand that Necroscope is the first in an extensive series of books. In fact, I would say the narrator is the best I have heard so far. Nick Santa Maria. I only bring it up to say that when I read that book, I was looking for the type of feel this book gave me. Just a great book series, and a great book in general. The dead try desperately to attract the Necroscope's attention, but Harry Keogh is deaf to their pleas and their screams. Titus Crow and his faithful companion fight the forces of darkness - the infamous and deadly Elder Gods of H.P. 07-24-18, Release date: I first read these years ago and decided it was time to re-visit the most terrifying vampires I've ever come across. The story is, however, let down by poor narration. I travel quite a bit, and as such, have blazed through the first three! Book 2 is still my fav though. The voice acting really really lets this book down. Harry Keogh's sons have become the bitterest of enemies, each determined to destroy the other. So this out me in the mood for horror books but ones different to others. The mispronunciation of what are, arguably, the most important characters in the series is unbelievable. So how much does physic ability play in attaining intelligence from other counties? The Necroscope's been asked to solve the crimes...asked by the dead spirits of the madman's victims. For millennia men have strutted their pride over the fragile surface of the Earth, arrogantly proclaiming themselves masters of creation. I can say it is one of my favorites, interesting take on one of the "big questions" what happens after? A good performance, but the pronunciation let it down. This is the first of a series and I hope Audible will pick up the rest of them. To be able to finally listen to this book on audible was amazing. It served as his personal instantaneous gateway to anywhere in the known universe, past or present. I have read other genre crossing novels, but most fell short. My disappointed started in the first chapter and it's all due to the narrator. 05-02-14, Release date: Simon Vance, Narrated by: Shaithis was at first all gurgling and clotted sounding, but then in the last chapter he sounds like the Ferenc. Russia's Ural Mountains hide a deadly secret: a supernatural portal to the country of the vampires. Certainly the most memorable character in Necroscope is the main protagonist Harry Keogh. It also has Espionage, witches, a necromancer, ESP, The Evil Eye, Far seeing, wizards, evolution, Boris and Natasha (no Moose and Squirrel) and it has a Zombie Army, but it is not about any one of these things. But Harry's alliance with Faethor has a terrible cost - Harry's very humanity is under attack from the vampire evil coiled in his mind! When next they meet, one will surely die! Harry Keogh and the armies of the dead have destroyed the evil that once plagued the world. Then, the seas came, the skies opened, and the never-ending rain began. I only finished listening to this book because the story is great. Once free, he must retrieve the three “tools” that will restore his power and help him to rebuild his dominion, which has deteriorated in his absence. and others, By: None of this poncey, childish Twilight rubbish, these Necroscope vampires are far more scary and powerful than the aforementioned nerds. Lumley writes in a distinctively British form of English - there is probably a line to be drawn from Conan Doyle to James Lovegrove with Lumley on it. This audio book was very good as is the saga of the Necroscope himself !! Hundreds of pages just tell you every unnecessary detail that turns the extraordinary into ordinary. Harry loses his Necroscope abilities and has to get them back, the entire book focuses on that 3 the main villain Janos is hit and miss. THEY HAVE NOTHING TO LOSEWow!! It is virtually impossible to capture the nuance of the many voices that are present in Brian Lumley's incredible tale of horror and science fiction. Here are a few examples. Wanted this on audible for years and unlike some other titles I read years ago its as good as I remember. Well done Mr. Lumley. It's truly a fantastic and original story. He pronounces sigil as “sigull”, omniscience as “omni-science” and spectre as “sceptre”... those are just the ones i made a mental note of in the past hour of listening, but there are many, many others. $29.95 Brian Lumley, Narrated by: I am very much hoping that Audible will bring the rest of the series to english speaking listeners (I note that it's been in the audible library in german since 2007 or so). Extremely distracting. This production has breathed whole new life into it. The narrator on the first 3 books is much better. I absolutely loved it. $24.95, Sale price: I won't even go into the totally unnecessary sound effects. I only wish more of the Necroscope publications were available.
