There is a slight difference in volume between the two so I really needed a standard width in the non-comfort model. I ask because the size comparisons are usually to AE's 5 last, which I'm a 7.5D in, but I wear thin dress socks with my AEs and if I get a RMW in yearling, I figured I'd wear slightly thicker casual socks seeing as the leather is thicker and I'd be wearing these much more casually (usually with black jeans).

Apart from a small area of the rear quarters, I couldn’t find any fault with the clicking on this pair when I got them, and I really can’t identify the area now. The SA advised a Size 7G, and it fits fairly well with medium Kirkland socks and lighter Smartwools.

My standard craftsman w/leather sole were just about $250 shipped. So I went into a few stores and tried on different models (Craftsman, Turnout, etc.) These are only my third pair of decently-made shoes, after some lovely Berwicks I picked up in Spain two years ago and a pair of AE Mactavish I got at a Boxing Day sale a few months back. Since there's only one seam (at the back), RM Williams uses a process called "blocking" to stretch the leather out before it's stitched on, helping to keep the shape of the leather with wear. Amazing job on that high-shine! I haven't seen Nungar recommended that much, but their prices are very competitive. The toe on the Macquarie last is gorgeous. Oh, and I bought the AEs in Canada when I was visiting home for Christmas. Sizing for length was standard UK/AUS (-1 from US brannock).

Williams and the main difference between them is the sole. I do wear slightly thicker socks with the RMWs than I do with the AEs - definitely no dress socks required with the Chelseas, so I typically wear slightly more cushy ones.
